There are a lot of grumbling at the airports today over surcharges for overweight baggage. We all need this "more is better, to rethink and plan our packing more efficient. The big old trunk that came in 30 "and 31" sizes, are no longer feasible. Due to the sheer volume, you can run in these big cases are certainly going to be overweight. Most airlines allow 50lbs per box. The good news: You are usually allowed to bring in two cases as baggage, together with acarryon and a personal bag.

Be sure to check with your respective airline to make sure that you comply with their rules to avoid a surcharge. You can usually pack a 27 "or 26" and are not overweight. Two of these cases are still a few more than the 30 "or 31" size. Remember, usually the older bags were much heavier than the new models today. The producers have adapted to the new regulations and provide lightweight luggage with a better, easier to frame on allnewer models. You will see all these ads, see "light", but you need to pick up is actually the case and see for yourself which is the lightest of the models.

You want to continue on ballistic nylon in the materials and a good wheel system and locking eyes or press to treat drag. You did not give the desired quality. If you try to packaging are Mix and Match your clothes. Shoes and sneakers are weight fast, so you limit your shoes. ForWomen, there are now shoes are available with different peaks. You can take a pair of shoes, and many, many different colored tops. You should eat a light folding travel umbrella and jacket along with other travel accessories. Instead of packing athick coat, they wear on the airplane. You can always lift it off and put it overhead or under the seat in front of you.

The new rules for air travel, you need your cosmetics pack into the suitcase. You are only permitted to provide a clear, one-liter bag on the plane with bottles of 3 grams or less. Many different companies offer these 3-1-1 pockets for your convenience. There are also great travel bottles available. Do not try to pack-sized gallonsBottle of shampoo and either buy or have their travel version pour some in the travel bottles available. You can reduce the weight, just put smaller bottles of cosmetics and toiletries. As the luggage is not pressurized, you need to double your bag to prevent spills and leaks. Plastic bottles first and then lined with plastic cubes in a pack or case for the security before packing your bags. Accidents with these liquids and creamscan be messy and expensive to fix.

These Top 10 guides by DK Eyewitness are great when one is spending only a few days in one of the world’s great cities, in this case, Sydney. (Previously, we used the Top 10 Guide for Athens and found it to be very helpful there as well). This Top 10 provides great detail on the Sydney Harbor Bridge, the fascinating back story and floor plans for the Opera House, and inviting descriptions of The Rocks, Darling Harbor, Toranga Zoo, Bondi and Manly Beaches, and tells you how to get around using the ferries, buses, and walking. It has a pullout map in the back and several maps showing graduated detail, so it was very helpful to stay oriented. Like all of DK’s Eyewitness Guides, you get history, great graphics and photographs, and suggestions for how to get the most out of one or two days of exploring etc. We used this book to plan our trip (we knew we wanted to sign up for the “bridgeclimb” in advance and this book provided the details that we needed). However, we ran up against what, for us, was a huge disappointment with this specific guide. One of the Top 10 categories for Sydney is restaurants. We have always relied on the descriptions and price range (from $ to $$$$$) in the Eyewitness Guides to decide where we will dine. In this case we picked Aria, which is one of the best in Sydney, and had a price designation of $$$. WELL, this was completely off base, and when we sat down with the menus in front of us and saw that appetizers where AUS and main courses were AUS…we were stunned! We had chosen the restaurant based upon the description and price info in this guide and brought two other couples with us. The food was good and the service was excellent, as described, but the price point was completely inaccurate and greatly exceeded our budget. We stayed, and did our best to limit the damage to our wallets, but it was beyond disappointing and embarrassing, as my husband and I had selected this place. In general, we are great fans of DK Eyewitness Guides because they not only provide great descriptions of places of interest, but they are also very good at restaurant and hotel description and recommendations. They generally provide an accurate price range, and apt descriptions of the food and ambiance. (In this case, we were disappointed and inconvenienced, as we discussed above, with the inaccurate designation of a restaurant’s elevated price range, hence the removal of one star) We have been using these guides for over 15 years, when we travel abroad, and have found that we can usually rely on the information contained within them. We find the history of each place, the timelines of events, the color graphics, maps and photographs to be user-friendly, very helpful and engaging.

Egypt (DK Eyewitness Travel Guide)

Mar-8-2010 By memosong

Review

Whenever we traveled Eyewitness Travel Guides is as important to us to bring to our trips as our passports. We were a little dissapointed when we wanted to find one about Peru and Ecuador/Galapagos last year, but couldn’t. Thank goodness we found one for our trip to Egypt. Due to Egypt’s vast amount of Temples, Tombs and cities we had to get another book, The Rough Guides, to tell us more about the logistics of navigating the country, however ETG was in our backpack all the time. The pics are very helpful, as well as to the point info about them. The guide shows how the temple was supposed to look at the time of construction, and it shows you pics of what to expect inside their chambers. This way you can better assess what places to skip and what is a must see. We’ve saved a lot of time this way, because we are able to spend more time examining what we like without feeling like we would be missing on something.
This is how we picked what tombs to see in the Valley of Kings.
The guide also tells you useful words and phrases in Arabic (with English pronunciation). It also tells you what are good buys in the country and it shows you pictures and the names of dishes which we tried and wouldn’t be able to know.

Hope you enjoy it too.

Denmark (Eyewitness Travel Guides)

Mar-1-2010 By memosong

Review

Best visual guide on Denmark (aka DK).

This is the first time I had to buy a Eyewitness Travel Guide.

Considering that Denmark is such a small country, I was gladly surprised to see that this volume packs a lot of information and images on almost every page.

This guide is well organized. It starts with a great introductory chapter: putting Denmark on the map, a portrait of Denmark, Denmark through the year, and the History of Denmark (as the sub-chapters). Then the next chapter covers over 60 pages on Copenhagen alone (not surprising considering that 25% of Denmark population is located in this metropolitan area). The next sections are on different regions of Denmark (including sections on island of Bornholm, Greenland, and the Faroe islands).

The sections that surprised me the most were the ending chapters: Travelers Needs and Survival Guide, giving one such great visual and written ideas on what to shop for, entertainment ideas, outdoors activities, and practical traveling information.

From my personal use this spring, I realize that the section on the island of Funnen (Fyn in Danish) is rather meager. As complements I would recommend Frommers 2007 edition of Denmark, and the Tourist Information office on the street corner across from the Tivoli entrance in Copenhagen (one block away from the main train station). Happy Travels!!

Travel Light with a travel Maker

Feb-28-2010 By memosong

You love your coffee. You have your own personal mix. You love your brewer, and have it set on a timer if you do not forget. But in the morning if you forget increasingly hectic, and more often than not, you're in a hurry, just to get out the door with enough time to get from the nearest 7-Eleven for a cup of coffee on the way to swing brake work.

Not quite the cup of coffee you prefer, but better than nothing.

Tired of billing?

Then it might time for a tripTea. More popular than ever before, especially with the hectic world we are living today, travel coffee makers can easily take with you wherever you go. A set-up at the office. Carry in the car. Keep one at home for fast brewing. Pack is a for your next trip. Whatever you choose your travel coffee maker, you are suddenly back in control again.

Prices can vary greatly, depending on the manufacturer and the features you choose. At the lower end, you canPurchase a manufacturer for less than twenty dollars. At the upper end could pay as much as a few hundred dollars. In any case, travel coffee makers all generally function in the same way. Place the coffee basket in the filtered, add water into the container, turn it on, and you're done.

With this in mind, here are some features that are in the search for a travel coffee maker:

1. Assembly …. It is easy to take apart to clean and put back togetheragain? They would, how difficult some travel coffee makers may be surprised to assemble again.

2. Dual Voltage System … if you do not travel abroad, especially in Europe, you are likely to provide a dual voltage system, to accommodate both the American and European branches. Check with the manufacturer is to make sure.

3. Car Cup Holder … the coffee cup that comes with the device, a standard fit car cup holders. If it does not, you're likely to find themselvesto be significantly disturbed.

4. Auto Shut Off … travel coffee maker will automatically shut off after brewing? Always a good idea for safety's sake.

5. Filter … Does the unit with a permanent filter or use a standard paper cone filters come? Which would you prefer for your particular circumstances? Please note that provides a durable filter you, the less you have to pack on trips.

6. Flexibility … she has the ability, even hot water forTea, hot chocolate or instant foods? Very handy on extended trips or long day at the office, if you can not get away for lunch.

7. Capacity … it takes to brew a single cup or more? Do you need more than one cup maker? And finally … what is the cup capacity? 10 ounces? More? Less?

8. Construction … the cup is made of plastic or stainless steel? There is rubberized, so you do not end they fall into your lap while driving to work?

9. Brewing Time… how long does it take to brew a single cup of coffee? Some models can have a cup of soup in less than 60 seconds.

10. Taste … and the most important of all, affect the taste of coffee and coffee? A favorable model is sometimes a cup of coffee that tastes like the plastic container. The goal, as much as possible, the convenience of combining cost and quality, if you can.

Finally, make sure you read the descriptions of the manufacturer carefully and choose the coffeeManufacturer, that's right for your needs. If you're a coffee lover, you will be able to enjoy to the fullest, you take your coffee maker with travel on trips or hold office, or even at home for a quick brew just before you on your way out of the door.
